Year 2014 has been a jumble of events and is filled with conquering of different milestones. New perfume, fourth album (wow), a single which made world-record, a new film and new tour. Let’s go through this list together and praise 1D on their success. These boys can do anything it seems.
On 27 April 2014, it was validated that 1D were working on their fourth studio album. Good Charlotte was reported to have collaborated with Payne and Tomlinson for writing songs. Payne claimed that the album would be “edgier” and the group has written most of the songs for it. It will be released through Columbia Records and Syco Music on 17 November 2014.
“Steal My Girl” was released as the album’s first single on 29 September 2014 worldwide. “Night Changes” was announced as the album’s second single. “Fireproof” was released for digital download available for just 24 hours on September 8. Twitter reports that there were 1.7 million tweets about Fireproof on Sept. 8 through 6 p.m. The topic was generating 5,369 tweets per minute. All that chatter helped drive Fireproof to No. 1 on the Real Time Billboard + Twitter Trending 140 chart, where it spent about eight hours locked in the top slot. U.S. iTunes Store generates around 300,000 downloads, on average.
The “Where We Are Tour” was the third headlining concert tour by One Direction. The concert tour visited stadiums from April through October 2014 with addition to special performances in Las Vegas on 20 September 2014 for the iHeartRadio Music Festival.
On 21 July, One Direction announced an upcoming concert film as an initial home media release titled One Direction: Where We Are – The Concert Film. The June 28 and 29, 2014 shows at San Siro in Milan, Italy were recorded and released on DVD in December 2014. The DVD contains the entire concert as well as bonus content including backstage footage.
“You & I”, named after their single is a fragrance which released in August’14. You & I is a bright, floral scent that is fresh and uplifting. The fragrance is made up of splashes of fresh fruit and seasonal flowers, infused with an undertone of musk.
One Direction Boys became Rays of Sunshine Ambassadors, a children’s charity in England. Since 2012 they’ve been partnered up with the charity, granting wishes for kids with serious illnesses. Prior to a One Direction concert at the Wembley Arena in London, over 50 children flew out to meet the band. The kids were lucky enough to ask the band questions, and one fan even got the chance to go on stage and sing “What Makes You Beautiful.”

Phew, what a busy year for One Direction, not mentioning Harry taking time to write up “Just A Little Bit Of Your Heart” for Ariana Grande and “I Love You” for Taylor Swift – or say about Taylor Swift. Yes, the song called “I Love You” (awww) wrote it for a band called Alex & Sierra as a come-back to Tay’s “Out Of Woods”. Yup, it’s all about Styles.
