Ever since I was a toddler and my parents handed me my first nursery rhyme book, I’ve been hopelessly in love with books. The mere sight of sentences make my mind spin. My obsession has reached such a critical level, I always demand books on my birthday. I’ve read a lot of books but the ones I love are here for an overview.
Percy Jackson series
This series consists of five books; The Lightening Thief, Sea of Monsters, the Titan’s Curse, the Battle of the Labyrinth and the Last Olympian. The story begins when 12 year old dyslexic Percy discovers his dad of Poseidon, Greek god of the sea. All five books are narrated by him. Led to Camp Halfblood, a place for demigods like him, by his best friend Grover Underwood Percy takes it upon himself to find the person or god trying to defeat Olympus. With his friends Annabeth Chase and Grover, Percy begins his new life as a demigod which is never easy. Will he be able to stay alive and save the world simultaneously! I won’t give you spoilers! Full of funny jokes, this series will be the thrill of a lifetime
The Heroes of Olympus
There are also 5 books in this series: The Lost Hero, The Son of Neptune, the Mark of Athena, The House of Hades and the Blood of Olympus.
This series begins 3 days after the Last Olympian when Percy Jackson disappears. Yes, he won’t be narrating it! It’ll be narrated in third person and in different characters point of view. Three new heroes, Jason Grace (who wakes up with amnesia) Piper McLean and Leo Valdez will be introduced who are assigned the treacherous task of locating the kidnapped goddess, Hera, queen of the gods. In the next book Percy reappears! Yay! I was so relieved! And he has NO memory of his life just like Jason! He and his new friends Hazel Levesque and Frank Zhang travel to Alaska to unleash Death. The last three books are the combined adventures of all these heroes who travel through Greece and Italy trying to save the world in their ship Argo 2.
No spoilers! These two series kept me hook! I hope you read them!
Anne of Green Gables series
Truth be told, classic books aren’t widely read as they were before. Maybe because the present generation is too much into speech and romance. But this series though! Best classic novels I’ve read so far! It’s written by L.M Montgomery and the location is Prince Edward Island. The tale begins with a red headed orphan, Anne Shirley, who is accidentally adopted by brother and sister Marilla and Mathew Cuthbert who wanted a boy. However, charmed by Anne’s vivid imagination and her inquisitive speech, they decide to keep her. The first book follows her misadventures and scrapes she’s always getting into! Once she dyed her hair green because someone feasted her about her red hair. The next few books are about her growing up into a teenage girl who’s still getting into trouble. I especially recommend this series because girls everywhere can relate to Anne.
Judgment Day by Andrew Neiderman (Rating: 5/5)
Judgment day is a prequel to (Best-selling novel) The devil`s advocate. The story begins when Warner Murphy, a young, successful attorney is found mysteriously dead; everyone knows that it is not a suicide. That’s when detective Lt. Matthew Blake is introduced in the story he’s determined to solve the murder. Lt. Matthew Blake is a main character and a protagonist. He is someone that most readers will love, he’s bright, straight forwardly intelligent man and has a good insight to his goals, that make him a good detective. His ideas are rather rational and upfront which causes difficulties for co-workers. But his methods and conclusions are unquestionable. The story is psychologically mysterious with an extra supernatural element. It’s a fast passed story that will keep you turning the pages. A lot of questions will emerge as you read this story. The question is who can play a younger John Milton and do the role as well as Al Pacino? And a lot of mysteries will unveil. Therefore, I highly recommend you this novel. It is a must read novel especially if you are a fan of mystery with a slight supernatural and psychological element. This story will keep you hooked till the last page.
