Hallyu wave (Korean culture ware) has been spending a lot these days. You can see different articles about Kpop and K-drama in smash. Now this is my list of 6 K-dramas that all new comers in K-world should watch. Here are few websites where you can watch them: Dramafire, Asianbox, MyasianTV, and Kissasia


  1. Boys Over Flowers:

Thoughts: I am sure the name is giving you creeps but trust me is drama is made for the beginners. It was my first K-drama and it was truly a black hole for me that sucked me into K-world.

Genre: Romance, comedy, drama, school.

Cast: Koo Hye Sun as Geum Jan Di, Lee Min Ho as Goo Joon Pyo, Kim Hyun Joong as Yoon Ji Hoo, Kim Bum as So Yi Jung, Kim Joon as Song Woo Bin, Kim So Eun as Chu Ga Eul (Jan Di’s best friend).

Synopsis:  Geum Jan Di is an ordinary girl whose family owns a dry cleaning store. While delivering dry cleaning to a student at the prestigious Shin Hwa High School, she saves a student’s and is given a full swimming scholarship. She attends Shin Hwa High and soon is terrorized by the leader of F4 (the four richest and most popular boys at the school) Gu Jun Pyo. Although Jun Pyo persists on bullying her, he begins to find himself attracted to Jan Di. However, Jan Di has a crush on Yoon Ji Hoo, Jun Pyo’s best friend. When she realizes that Ji Hoo is merely a close friend and that she really loves Jun Pyo the couple are thrown into a dilemma as Jun Pyo’s mother sets out to break them up and find a more suitable match for her son.


  1. The heirs:

Thoughts: This drama made me fall in love with it. The cast, the story, the direction everything this perfect! And if you like those Romeo and Juliet type dramas then this is for you!

Genre:  School, romance, comedy, melodrama.

Cast: Lee Min Ho as Kim Tan, Park Shin Hye as Cha Eun Sang, Kim Woo Bin as Choi Young Do.

Synopsis: The series follows a group of rich, privileged, and elite high school students as they are groomed to take over their families’ business empires. These wealthy students seem to have everything under control, except their love lives. Kim Tan (Lee Min-ho) is a handsome and wealthy heir to a large Korean conglomerate who is studying in the U.S.[6]Meanwhile, his brother Kim Won (Choi Jin-hyuk) tries to take control of the family business.[7] While in the States, Kim Tan meets Cha Eun-sang (Park Shin-hye) and falls in love with her,[8] but he is engaged to Rachel Yoo (Kim Ji-won). Rachel’s future stepbrother and Kim Tan’s former best friend, Choi Young-do (Kim Woo-bin) (who also attends the same school as Kim Tan and Eun-sang) starts falling for Eun-sang as well. Troubles arise as the heirs realize the differences between money and the real world and they soon learn what love is.


  1. Descendants of the sun:

Thoughts: Now is drama well…. What can I say about this drama because it just slayed the Korean rating and also is internationally famous as well. The story is so good it makes you addicted to it.

Genre: Romance, melodrama, comedy.

Cast: Song Joong Ki as Yoo Shi Jin, Song Hye Kyo as Kang Mo Yun.

Synopsis: Yoo Si-jin (Song Joong-ki) is the captain of a South Korean Special Forces unit. He catches a motorcycle thief, Kim Gi-beom (Kim Min Seok), with Sergeant Major Seo Dae-young (Jin Goo). The thief is injured during his capture and therefore sent to the hospital. Dae-young realizes his cellphone was stolen by the thief and goes to the hospital along with Si-jin to retrieve his cellphone. In the emergency room, Si-jin meets Dr. Kang Mo-yeon (Song Hye-kyo) for the first time. He falls in love with her immediately. Mo-yeon mistakenly assumes Si-jin is part of the thief’s criminal gang, due to his nickname “Big Boss”, which is actually his call sign. He proves to her that he is a soldier with the help of army surgeon Yoon Myeong-ju (Kim Ji-won).Si-jin and Mo-yeon begin to date, but due to their jobs, their dates don’t go smoothly. Si-jin receives orders to lead his soldiers on a peacekeeping mission in the fictional country of Urk. Meanwhile, Mo-yeon is upset because she failed to become a professor due to a colleague’s privileged background. When Si-jin and Mo-yeon meet again, they talk about their views on life and realize how different they are. Si-jin, as a soldier, kills to protect lives while Mo-yeon, as a doctor, honors the Hippocratic Oath and tries to save lives. Due to this difference in viewpoints on life, they agree to part ways. Dae-young, on the other hand, faces a dilemma on whether to continue with his relationship with Myeong-ju or risk being removed from the army by Myeong-ju’s father. Eight months later, a medical team leads to Urk. There, Si-jin and Mo-yeon meet and fall in love again.


  1. Goblin:

Thoughts: Don’t get me started on this drama! Oh I absolutely love it! The story is so unique and different from the other K-dramas I have ever watched. It is currently airing and then reached up to 10 episodes. Trust me and start watching it now!

Genre: Fantasy, romance, drama.

Cast: Gong Yoo as Kim Shin, Kim Go Eun as Ji Eun Tak, Lee Dong Wook as Wang Yeo, Yoo In Na as Kim Sun / Sunny, Yook Sung Jae as Yoo Duk Hwa.

Synopsis: Kim Shin (Gong Yoo) is an immortal goblin who is also a protector of souls. He lives together with an amnesiac grim reaper (Lee Dong-wook) who is in charge of taking deceased souls. Together the two of them see the dead off into the afterlife. One day Kim Shin meets a girl, Ji Eun-tak (Kim Go-eun) who is destined to be his bride and return him to ashes, with a special ability to see ghosts.


  1. School 2015: Who are you? :

Thoughts: The most mysteries and thrilling drama. This drama makes you so curious that you end up watching all the episode and in the end you are like “wow what just happen?”. But nevertheless it’s a very interesting one.

Genre: Mystery, drama, school, youth, romance.

Cast: Kim So Hyun as Lee Eun Bi / Go Eun Byul, Nam Joo Hyuk as Han Yi Ahn, Yook Sung Jae as Gong Tae Kwan.

Synopsis: Eun-bi and Eun-byul look exactly alike, but only Eun-byul is aware of the other’s existence. Unlike the cheerful Eun-bi, Eun-byul is prickly and secretive.One day, on a school field trip to Tongyeong, Eun-byul mysteriously disappears. At the same time, Eun-bi is unjustly expelled from her school and jumps off a bridge in a suicide attempt. Ten days later, the injured and amnesiac Eun-bi is mistaken for her twin Eun-byul, and her adoptive mother takes her home to Seoul, where she starts living as Eun-byul. But soon her memory returns. Eun-bi faces many challenges as Kang So Young transfers to Sekang High School and tries to reveal her real identity, as well as use her dad’s help to make Eun-bi transfer. Luckily, Gong Tae-kwang (공태광) (Yook Sung-jae), Eun-bi’s classmate and the school troublemaker, protects her whenever So-young tries to bully her. Soon, Eun-bi tells Tae-kwang her real identity, and Tae-kwang becomes the only person Eun-bi can trust. He eventually begins to develop feelings for her.

Thoughts: This drama is one of those sporty and motivational dramas that you will surely enjoy watching!

Genre: Comedy, drama, romance, school, youth.

Cast:   Choi Sulli as Goo Jae Hee, Min Ho as Kang Tae Joon, Lee Hyun Woo as Cha Eun Kyul.

Synopsis: The series centers on Goo Jae Hee, a Korean girl who lives in the United States. One day, she sees a track and field competition on TV, and becomes attracted to one of the high jump competitors, Kang Tae Joon. She begins to idolize the young athlete and eventually transfers to Korea to attend the same school that Tae Joon attends after he suffers an accident that could potentially end his career. There is a catch, however: Tae Joon attends an all-boys high school and Jae Hee must disguise herself as a boy to enter.
